I finally had the opportunity to photograph my latest paintings of 2011. Although I haven’t counted the number of paintings, I believe I have painted more in 2011. Many plein air paintings, sketches, live wedding and event paintings, portrait commissions and paintings done in the studio. I continued to paint in both oils and watercolors. And the more I paint, the more I understand the importance of good drawing skills. So, I hope to draw more in 2012.
I love painting from life, but, I also do many paintings in my studio. Here are my latest studio pieces. Both originals and prints are available.
Happy 2012!

Raleigh- View from Capital City Club. 10x14.5. Watercolor on paper. Artist- Tesh Parekh. I had always wanted to paint this view. Someday soon, I am going to paint this from life.Lower Lake at Dusk. 12x16 Watercolor on paper. Artist - Tesh Parekh. Durant Nature Park in Raleigh is my favorite place to paint. Many many painting opportunities in this little park.Durant Trail. 12x16 Watercolor on paper. Artist - Tesh Parekh. Durant Park painting, of course! The park is very close to where I live. I go there quite often and continue to find new things to paint.Quilts. 20x16 Gouache on Aquabord. Artist - Tesh Parekh. This is Burleigh Plantation in Semora NC. I visited the plantation few weeks ago and found it very exciting. I have also done a drybrush painting of a slave cabin door of the plantation. I worked on this painting for many days. I have entered this painting in Jerry's Artarama's Turner Gouache contest. Painting in Gouache is quite different from watercolor. This is my first painting on Aquabord. I am not quite sure if I like the surface for my kind of paintings. I may have to try it with watercolors.NC State Fair 2011. 12x16 Watercolor on paper. Artist - Tesh Parekh. I have always wanted to paint NC State Fair. There is just so much energy at the fair! And the different shapes, colors, smell, the crowd and the movement. If I can find a good spot, I would like to paint en plein air one year. This is a gouache painting on paper. This is the second painting which I have entered in Jerry's Artarama's Turner Gouache Contest. Unlike the painting of Burleigh Plantation, this is a freer painting. I painted this quickly.
This is an oil portrait of my son Ian! I frequently sketch him from life. That practice helps me sketch when I am painting live at weddings and events! This portrait is based on an image I had captured while he was standing by the front door, curiously observing the world outside. I paint portraits…
Last weekend I was in Charlotte and enjoyed the St. Patrick’s Day festivities there! I spent most of the day and evening in Charlotte downtown. I love Charlotte’s downtown! Happy July 4th! This year we started celebration early with our friends from the Army! What can be better way! We went to Wake Forest for the fireworks. Wake Forest is a great community. This fun event was at the Heritage High School. I initially started a smaller painting. Then we moved so my view…
My winter cityscape of Raleigh – “Winter Evening, Raleigh” is part of Visual Art Exchange‘s “Primary” show. This 21×14 watercolor on paper is a moody atmospheric painting of Raleigh Downtown. Winter blues! I thought it was appropriate choice for this show. The show opens on First Friday. I am hoping to travel to the coast…
Figurative paintings by Raleigh NC Fine Artist I often paint figures as part of my streetscapes and landscapes. But lately, my focus has been painting solitary figures & nudes. I often sketch figures when I am out and about. Mostly in pencil and sometimes in watercolors. These sketches provide me with reference materials for my genre…
Holly Springs, NC is a quaint town that is truly that suburb that has it all to be able to call home, but is also not to far from the big city. I paint in Holly Springs as often as I can and I enjoy the area, no matter what season. Holly Springs Cultural Center…
